Conse Law Firm wins a labor dispute against Frontera Eastern Georgia

28 April 2021

Conse Law Firm won a labor dispute against oil and gas company Frontera Eastern Georgia in collaboration with Marika Arevadze Lawyers Group. The claimant was a group of employees who had been dismissed by Frontera Eastern Georgia on the grounds of the company reorganization.

The court ruled in favor of the claimants, who sought compensation and defense of their labor rights.

The case was notable for the complexities of the oil and gas industry's regulatory standards, which affected the phase of choosing the proper respondents. More specifically, the plaintiffs asked the court to review the production sharing arrangement entered into by and between Frontera Eastern Georgia's investor company and the Georgian government. The plaintiffs believed that the referred agreement vested some obligations in the investor firm, and the latter should have been added to the dispute as a defendant. Regrettably, the court rejected the plaintiffs' request to examine the production share agreement, leaving the matter of distinguishing the liability of operating and investor firms without assessment. The latter is a critical issue in the oil and gas industry regulations.

Therefore, Frontera Eastern Georgia, the operating company, will satisfy the claims.
